Giant anteaters are found in Central and South America. From the tip of their nose to the end of their tail, they could reach up to 220 cm in length and weight between 30 to 40 kilos. According to the he IUCN Red List, they are Vulnerable. They are in danger of extinction because of the change of habitat due to mining and livestock activities, like cattle-rising as it involves eliminating trees, vegetation. They are important as they play an important role in controlling ants and termites population, so they would not destroy certain species of trees, therefore, anteaters are vital in conservation of the rainforest in the places that they inhabit.
